We’ve Moved a Clock 900 Miles from
Alpena, MI to Raleigh, NC

Don’t Trust the Moving Company
We’ve seen everything when it comes to grandfather clocks that have been moved. Everything from doing nothing and leaving the weights and pendulum attached during transport to doing too much and completely disassembling the pendulum! For this reason, we don’t recommend trusting your moving company. In fact, some movers won’t touch a clock until it’s been prepared. Don’t take a chance with someone who thinks a grandfather clock is just another piece of furniture. We only do clocks, so we know what needs to be done.

The Clock Moving Basics
At a minimum, the weights and pendulum need to be removed before transporting any clock – grandfather, wall, cuckoo, or mantel. Not all clocks have a pendulum, and not all clocks have weights. But if yours does and you’re bringing it to our shop for repair, please take care to remove them. Additionally, modern-era grandfather clocks and antique grandfather clocks are not created equal. Antiques need a little more TLC than their younger counterparts. So if you aren’t sure, don’t take a chance with your heirloom – give us a call.

We Can Prepare Your Clock for a Move

When you’re ready to have your grandfather clock prepared for a move, give us a call. We’ll be glad to come out with all of the proper specialized boxes and packing materials needed for the internal preparation of your type of clock. We don’t crate clocks. When we’re done with its internal preparation, all the moving company has to do is wrap your clock and load it on the truck. Don’t take a chance – have your clock prepared.

We Can Move Your Clock

Are you moving? Are you having your floors redone? If you need your grandfather clock moved, give us a call – we’ll be glad to do it! It takes 2 people to load and unload, so let us know if you can help or we need to bring a helper. We can move your clock almost anywhere – across the room, across town, or across the country. Believe it or not, we’ve actually moved a client’s grandfather clock from Alpena, Michigan to Raleigh, North Carolina – that’s 900 miles! Ask about our reasonable clock relocation rates. And why not have your clock serviced at the same time it’s moved? It’s the perfect time to spend the extra $40 on our 5-year servicing.
